In this blog I will explore the parallel artistic movements of the early Renaissance – specifically 14-16th century Flemish and Italian painting, and the current quest for enhanced and virtual reality.  I see the quest for VR as one of today’s most significant artistic and cultural movements, picking up speed and depth as it surfs the wave of technology.  It is fascinating for me to see within this movement so many parallels, both cultural and conceptual, to the early Renaissance.

I will explore some of these broad themes:

Humanism, Colour, Illusion, Math and Art, Verisimilitude, Immersion, and Social and Cultural Contexts.
